Stopping A Vehicle If A Passeger Requests It

Hi All,
I have recently been told that is now an offence, to not stop a vehicle at a motorway service station (or other location) if a passenger requests it.
I am slightly dubious about the source of this information, as i regularly drive a friend up to his daughter (some 300 miles away).
Now I would be quite happy to do the journey in one go, but he likes to stop for a cup of coffee at least twice during the trip.

i think i know what this is about (but admit may well be wrong) there are new domestic abuse laws out that deal specifically with emotional and psychologica l abuse - as in controlling behaviours, what to wear, money, when to go to the toilet etc someone, somewhere turned that into having to stop when women ask for frequent rest stops on travels (i presume as a...

I also hate stopping, but will do if requested by a passenger, personally I would drive 500 miles without stopping, however, if I needed a break due to tiredness I would not hesitate to stop.
