Funny you should mention it, as it was only yesterday I drove past a garage and noticed diesel price was 98.9p per litre - cheapest I've seen it in a LONG time .... which is quite the opposite of what you noticed ....

There has been a small increase in oil prices but I don't think it should affect the pump price much, unless there was some profiteering going on.

Not that I'm any expert in these things.
Asda near me has Diesel @97.7
Probably not, but nothing is certain !
Why is petrol so much dearer in the UK than everywhere else? The chancellor puts extra tax on fuel at every budget, and we are paying so much more than other nations. Why are we bearing the brunt of this?
Diesel is so cheap now it is not worth running your car on cooking oil.
Bet people who spent a fortune getting set up to make diesel from old chip fat are feeling pretty stupid as well.
An essential commodity giving guaranteed revenue.
Every supermarket has its price for unleaded stuck at 99.9p.

It's a price match of sorts. They normally vary from region to region.
sorry EDDIE - thought I was commenting to Cloverjo.
Paid less than a £1 for a litre of diesel yesterday in Tesco...can't remember when it last as cheap as that !
here's a history of fuel prices (not updated since 2012, he must have got bored)

And this similarly-named site tells you where the nearest cheap petrol is to you; always check it before you fill up

Petrol isn't dearer than everywhere else - Iceland, Israel, Italy, Denmark, Malta, Netherlands and Norway currently have higher prices than us and we are similarly priced to Portugal, Finland and Turkey. In fact, France isn't very much cheaper than the UK any more.
