As long as you change to another Main Dealerr you are still covered ( assuming you are talking about a Vauxhall ca) we git a very good deal from TN on servicing too paying a monthly sum. I'll get more details if you want.
Here, in black and white (literally!)......

my reply may or may not have anything to do with MOT's.
Some years back was involved in a bit of a prang, insurance company said I had to take car to their approved garage.
Told them no, as that garage didn't have a good reputation and wanted to take it to my local garage.
Both garages are/were also approved Testing Centres.
They reluctantly agreed.
The one they wanted me to take it to went bust some years ago.

Ginge, it's this part that fooled me.
'Lifetime Warranty cover is dependent upon confirmation that the vehicle has been serviced in accordance with the manufacturer's recommended servicing schedules using genuine Vauxhall parts or parts of equal quality, including oils, and that the annual reactivation checks have been carried out.'
I read that has having to go to a Vauxhall dealership garage, the only one of which in Bedford seems to be EH. I may be wrong here.

Tilly.....it is now illegal for motor manufacturers to insist that THEY alone need to service your car to preserve warranty rights. It's called "block exemption". This link explains it......scroll down to "servicing your car"
