my cars is booked in for a mot, but the mot runs out a few days short of it.
so because my cars is booked in can i drive my car around, my other half says i can is this true?

No you can't. You can only drive to the booked MOT test, when the current MOT expires.
Ethel is right. You must also go to the pre-booked appointment by the most direct route.
it is against the law to drive on the road,without a current mot,the only exception is to drive to the mot garage for the test.
Sensible thing is to book it in for a test before the current MOT certificate runs out. If you have the current certificate you can do this up to a month in advance and the new certificate will be dated 12 months from the old one.

well it was kinda my mums cars, and she though it ran out next month. and thanx for clearing that up!
you should be able to find somewhere that will do it the same day
gef is right, but i do you have to take your old mot certificate with you as it's now on a central computer?

couldn't find any where on the day every where was booked up, and if she went fair out she would need a way of getting back home, but it is is now any way.
