For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I'd recommend a mechanic does it because diesel cambelts are more difficult to replace than a petrol one (injection pump timing). There is an engine mounting that you have to unbolt and jack the engine up.
The Rover 1.8 diesel is also used in Peugeot and Citroens so if you wanted to take it to a franchised garage you could take it to either. Alternatively any reputable garage would be more than capable of replacing.
Cost wise.... I've been out the trade a long time but I'd estimate �150?
