I loved my Zafira. That's all I can say really.

I wouldn't buy a Vauxhall myself, to my mind they lack a quality feel.
4 years old, 7000 miles, What state is the engine in? Full of carbon with all the short trips running on enriched mixture? Engine worn with the enriched mixture washing the oil off the cylinder walls? If it's been used once a month for a good long trip - fine; if it's been used daily to drive to the parer shop and back - forget it is a long-term purchase. Low mileage isn't the be-all and end-all; it depends how it's been used.
I'd be a bit worried why it only has 7K on the clock. Sounds too low.
I have the 1.7Ecodiesel , it has 136,000K after 3 years. But very reliable and excellent fuel economy. I am always wary of cars with a very low milage. There needs to be a good reason it has such a low mileage , so try to find out what it is .
Some good info here. He writes a motoring motoring advice column in the Saturday Daily Telegraph, and gives good, impartial advice.

Potential catastrophes with 1.9 diesel engine. Avoid any 1.9 diesels more than 6 years old as a used buy //
HJ is very anti-diesel, unless you're doing loads of miles a year - problems with diesel particulate filter are well-documented. Not to mention how much they will be punished tax-wise in the future....
had a cavalier sri back in the 80's nice drive, as for your deal probably been clocked..
The service history will tell you how genuine the mileage is. Cars need an annual oil change regardless of mileage; if it hasn't had one beware.
You know I've never even considered that when checking out cars, Baldric.

Do you ask first or just grab a handful? :-)

OK, I've looked at the answers so far! I think the garage gets hold of some minor damaged motability cars & does a bit of cosmetics before putting them out? It's mainly the 'diesel' aspect that concerns me; I don't do many miles, so the 'particulates' issue doesn't (well it does really),come into it-it's the reliability of 'gently-used' engines! At 77 will it see me out? Happy days!
// I don't do many miles//

It's how you do them that counts. If you only ever do short trips you WILL have problems with the particulate filter; you need to do a long run regularly to keep it clean or the car will be forever in "limp" mode. If that is your type of usage avoid a diesel. I have a diesel, which I love, and I've never had any problems but I rarely use it for short trips.

Well! It seems the biggest 'mind changer' has turned out to be the DPF or diesel particulates filter! bhg481 put me wise to this feature of 'low mile use' with a diesel (thank you)I shall now have a complete change of mind. I'm still a Zafira user and intend to get another-but not a diesel! Watch this space!
I would touch a diesel with bargepole anyway but one with as lower milage as this will be whole world of pain.
