Every day I drive down a very busy 4 lane road. (2 lanes each way and loads of traffic lights.) a couple of years ago the council, at great cost, Converted the large grass verges at both sides of this road into a cycle lane and a smaller grass verge. (The existing pavement remained.)
So why today, as most days, do pedal cyclists use the road. Today’s idiot caused the extremely busy traffic to go into the outside lane to get past him yet 2 metres to his left there is an empty cycle lane.

Bells are pointless as one can call louder. And in any case, anyone expecting me to get out of their way when they are illegally cycling on the pedestrian's pavement and expecting pedestrians to get out of their way, are going to be most disappointed. Best decision would be to make public cycling illegal and have bikes only for sports stadiums. There is no suitable place for cycles and suicidal cyclists on public roads/pavements.
Classic tonight, I was waiting at bus stop, shelter took up about 1/2 the pavement. People milling around outside bus shelter, then what comes whizzing by on pavement, cyclist, no lights and dark clothing. Accident waiting to happen. Closely followed by a second, at least she had lights and a safety helmet for her protection. Absolute idiots with no respect for others.
Most cyclists are fine, they are polite, respectful and sensible, however when they aren't they are really idiocy of a degree all on it's own. I would personally have hunted these two feckwits down and stuffed their bikes up their arris if they'd done this to my horse.
