A dealership used the top level to store cars
The way the drivers use to drive the cars was appalling - lots of screeching etc , as they came down the various levels .
I often wondered how many owners took delivery of a ' damaged' car

>>> A sat nav ain't going to warn you of the height of bridges , is it ?
Satnavs for commercial vehicles DO have mapping systems which include data on bridge heights (as well as weight limits, lorry bans, etc) but they tend to be considerably more expensive than satnavs for cars, so some transport firms try to cut costs by using 'ordinary' satnavs instead.

Poor old pal of mine, lives in California, collects and restores Jaguar E-types. One of them featured on a Playboy Calendar.
He bought a $50,000 e-Type from across the USA and it was transported on a lowloader for restoration. The truck got caught up in a sweeping fast moving forest fire and the E-type needs more restoration than he hoped for. The truck driver escaped luckily. Malcolm, being a Brit was quite pragmatic about the damage and last I heard he is doing a step by step rebuild on Youtube. He will get there. He rebuilt US fighter aircraft all over the world for various Air Forces.

>>> I suspect that the driver would not have known the exact height of his load
Fair enough, Bhg481, but even a standard container lorry (4.2m high) wouldn't fit under a 4.0m bridge!

Thanks Chris
That picture will give me nightmares tonight. I know how an MP feels when they 'lost their deposit'.
Annoying thing was I consulted the pilotage manual and pulled over to the starboard bank to ask the pilot in his cabin if the air draught was sufficient and could he take the craft through. H e replied in the negative because of the tidal range so I attempted a 3 or 10 point turn in the basin prior to the bridge. The craft was about 30ft long, single prop and when side on to the bridge the wind just rammed me into the bridge like a giant sail. News travels fast on the Broads and when I got back to the boatyard several days later the owners knew exactly where to find the damage. :-)
