I am having terrible trouble, trying to renew my driving licence on the Gov.uk dvla website I get past all the name, address, driving licence number, part of the form, then it says we can't proceed any further, is there anyway of contacting them apart from phone which takes ages to get through, they are an absolute nightmare.

MM: "Sorry Tora what have I said that is wrong?" - the driver number is the long number including your name and DOB, It is NOT 8 digits.
I am looking at the letter I received and it states driver number then underneath it is 8 digits.
So I am not talking rubbish you prat
Just a thought, what site are you using? I see there are several sites other then GOV.UK offering the servcie, if you are on one of those they may not be so reliable.
Plus they will almost certainly charge you way over the odds. You should be paying £14 for this.

Here in NI it’s 30quid
So why does it say driver number above it?
MM: your license the driver number is labelled 5. XXXXXNNNNNNXXNXX is the format.
Apologies, I didn't realise the OP is in Northern Ireland.
Why are you renewing early? My photocard expired November and I will wait until I receive notification to renew in around four months, as instructed by DVLA.

Apologies you did say you were on gov.uk, I'll get my coat....
Tora for the final time , I received a letter to renew on it there are 3 titles
Driver number then 8 digits
Licence expiry date
Renewal fee

The only other way to prove it is to post a picture- which I am not going to do due to personal information
ok NI has a different format.
I thought NI was UK it seems not.
It's a different format for NI then, but the OP said their number has their name in it so they are not in NI, so the 8 digits is not relevant to them?
Northern Ireland is part of the U.K.
