I have an mgf that is 1 year old. Took it out on Saturday - parked and locked it as usual. Don't think I left any lights on. Try to open it on Wednesday and the remote key wont work. Open it manually and the lights didn't flash as normal. Won't start - not even a splutter. Completely dead. My question is: Am I right in thinking this is the battery, and can I jump start it, bearing in mind there is onboard electrics/computer? If not, what should I do? Any help greatly appreciated.

Well this is loss of power from the battery but it is very unusual for a one year old battery to fail overnight (well couple of nights). suggest that the first thing to check is that all the electrical connections on the battery and to the chassis are OK, then use a portable light or something or even just a 12vdc bulb with some wires and connect to the battery directly and check if is really is dead.

If it is the battery then a jump start will not cause any problems on board the car but once the car is running take it straight to a battery center or seller and get this checked out.
