Will my car fail it's next MOT if the hazard lights do not work. The hazard lights switch is a little temperamental, so sometimes they come on and drain the battery. As a quick fix I have take out the fuse, and was wondering, as I don't use the hazard lights, will the car fail it's next MOT because they don't work? Thanks in advance.

As far as I know it is a failure. If they are fitted they must work properly.

I dont ever remember the hazard lights being tested during any MOT I've put a car through so I think you'll be OK

Hazard lights must be fitted to any vehicle first registered on or after 1 April 1986. If fitted, they must be working. They are part of the test.

What a stupid thing to say, I never use the hazard lights! You never know when you might need them, when you have broken diown, been in an accident or come across an accident yourself! I would have thought these would have to work!!

They are 100% tested, i had a cavalier fail an mot as the switch wouldnt turn off unless you pressed it more from the left ( a bit of a nack but easy once you knew how) anyway the tester didnt like it a failed it. �20 from vaux iirc, for a switch!!!!!!

Now i'm guesing, but think after a certain year i think hazard light switch's needed to have a light, cant remember if this was with the side lights on, or if it was with the hazard lights on.

Actually I thought Claireybell's comment was more sensible than the question. A bit like not wearing seat belts because you don't intend to have an accident.
