i'm student... qiute keen on the new seat ibiza. does anyone have one? do u think they have 'street cred'? have u had any problems with the dealership ie service/repairs etc?

You get a lot more for your money than you do with something like a polo.
Never had a problem with the dealers, the Leon went in a few times for work under warranty and it was always done quickly with no hassles.
If you were worried about low residuals and depreciation you would never buy a car. Buying second had you limit your impact somewhat in this respect.

when I said I the altea was the worst, I meant the 3rd best out of the 3. All good cars.
With 7k I would consider a Ford Focus 1.6 or 1.8 Zetec, may 2 or 3 yrs old. 206, in my opinion, is a bit of a girls car.
Have a look at the focus (old shape), unless you can stretch to 9k for the new shape. Polo, although a VW, is a bit boring. If you like the polo then have a look at a Skoda Fabia (very good cars) and I recommend any Skoda to anyone.
