Our 2001 Mazda 121 - it's a Ford Fiesta with a different badge on, 16V Vetec engine - is in the garage, as the engine management system light came on. They're telling me that one of the plugs needs changing. They also tell me that it's one of two plugs that are hard to get at, so is not usually changed during the service, and may well be difficult to remove. They've warned me that it nay crack when being removed, which would of course involve a bigger job and more expense. Are they trying it on here?

If I were you I would use a better garage but when they say it may crack they only mean the plug which would only cost about 5.

On the V6 lagunas to change 3 of the plugs the exhaust manifold has to be removed, that is a lot more expensive!

I would take the car to Kwik fit, national express or some other large franchise, they will probably tell more of the truth. they may not be any more expensive than joe bloggs round the corner working from his lock-up either.
