Hi,
Would a car with a 3 cylinder engine be suitable for motorway driving? (50 miles per day 16 times a month + leisure)
Please advise

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Yes, but I think the advantages of the 3 cylinder engine is really for town driving, so you're really gonna cane your fuel economy on a 3 cylinder engined car.
Maybe you're better of with a 4 cyclinder car....
You could always read the buying guides on www.parkers.co.uk
Personally I wouldn't wanna be cruising along a busy motorway with a car that's gonna be wheezing along rather than breezing along.
You have a few choices - Corsa 1.0 12 valve, Daihatsu Charade, and I believe the Perodua Nipper.
On the flat - fine - cracking on the motorway economy wise - can be noisy at higher revs/speeds.
The engine's are pretty robust, although the corsa is a little underpowered.
The Daihatsu is my choice - what do you have out of interest?
