You also don't have to take the car to your dealer, a small-time garage will probably take a look at it for free in the hope they'll get your custom!
a common problem with all fiats is the clutch plate. My partner had the same prob in her punto a few years back, ended up being the clutch plate. Happened in hers and mine! Unfortunatly that has put us off buying fiats again.
Then again it could be a wheel bearing or brake disc, but that would sound at any speed.
You could always search the net for a Fiat Owners Club form, they are always good.
If not, speak to a main dealer. they will charge more but at least its logged down as being dealt with by Fiat.
