bad idle problem

i have an escort gti 1998 model and when ticking over idles eratically ive been told its the idle speed control valve but i cant locate it on my engine anyone help??

hi there its a real pain you need the car up in the air its right at the back of the engine about centre if you get a torch you should see it its right up the back end of the engine only a couple of bolts holding it in place and 1 lead. its to difficult to get to from the top try soaking it in carb cleaner (before you buy a new one about �70) when you get it off you'll find the spring is all clogged up. this is were it is on my 1.8 escort lx hope this helps i just had to take mine off and clean it real pain
