there is not a min laid down,sometimes its single carriageway ,sometimes its a duel carriageway,depends where you are,stupid question really

so could one of these very, very narrow country roads. the sort where you have to a layby to pass be an A road ? i think anyone that makes assumptions without knowing the answer is stupid !

I doubt that there is a legal minimum width as there are in deed some "A" roads in northern Scotland which are single track roads with passing places!

i drove a very, very narrow A road in Cornwall last year. it was just wide enough for two cars to pass, but every now and then there were passing places.
