Th pulley is making horrible noises on my 2001 XantIa HDi (engine DW10). The rubber has perished. Can a pulley off an older pre-HDi engine be fitted? Same diameter, same fitting etc

A new pulley would cost me 50 +vat and I really don't want to pay that much

i would just get a new one !!!!!! but all the same, does the old pulley look the same???? same width??????
the 2ltr hdi is a peugeot engine which is fiitted to a lot of vehicles ie peugeot partner 206,307,406,807, fiat scudo, ulysse, citroen xantia, xara dispatch etc etc. we have had a few examples of these pulleys collapsing asa they are duel mass pullleys, as long as it is a duel mass pulley you use to replace it thats ok. they are about 110 quid at trade price from main dealer to buy so retail should be about 140 150 or so.
