my Vaxhall Vectra 2.6v6 y reg cuts out

My Vaxhall Vectra 2.6v6 keeps cutting out on me it will start up when cold but when engine has warmed up is just cutsout and stops dead, and will not start again untill the engine has cooled down a bit, then it will start again with the ignition, but it will bump start when warm can any one HELP!!! as I can not afford to take it to a Vaxhall Dealer
