If I buy a car from someone, how do I get it home without tax and insurance?
I want to buy a car from a private seller, but can't get insurance and tax until I buy it, so how do I get it home without breaking the law?

Further to Ethel's useful comments. You can get your insurance company to send you a cover note. Take this with you and you can get it taxed from a post office before you drive it home. You also need the MoT (if its more than 3 years old) and the V5(log book). The other way to do it is to get the seller to deliver it to you.
