replacing rear disc pads

How do you push the pistons back when replacing the rear disc pads on a Renault van where the handbrake also operateson the same pistons.

I've never done them on a van - but have many times on other cars - I think you'll need the lid off the brake fluid resevoir and usually you can get some small G clamps and that does the trick. Chock the wheels or put it in gear and take the handbriake off.

Just take the lid of the top of your brake fluid reservoir and if the caliper's still attached and the pistons are free, a large screwdriver / file between the disc and piston will push them back (without causing damage). Gently.

On most Renaults You will damage the calipers by not carrying out the correct procedure.
The Caliper pistons need pushing and turning when retracting them.

you need a brake caliper winding tool (halfords sell them)

do not force them back with a screwdriver or g clamps.. you will damage the piston.
