It is quite an old car and it depends how it has been treated. It is also quite a big car and I would think that unless you were doing lots of long runs without stopping then the mpg is about right
if its urban driving i would say 26 mpg for an old heavy car is absolutely brilliant - you should be doing cartwheels not moaning
my 405 DIESEL does 23-26mpg and a friends mondeo 2.0 litre does 18-21 mpg, or how about my montego 1.6 which did 16mpg or my citroen ax 1.4 -where the fuel light came on after 6miles? -all cars carefully driven and well serviced
You drive a tank you buy the fuel, seriously its about right for this heavy car.

thank you people. it is on the motorway mainly, i'm disappointed because i now realise i could have bought a 2.3 20v and it would have returned the same! oh well, i still enjoy the car.
