I have a private number plate on my car which came with it when I bought it. Now its time to sell the car, I've been advised that I should sell the plate seperately as it is worth quite a bit. Can someone advise me on how to go about this process and how do I get a replacement registration. Thanks.
Hmmm..I think you have to contact the DVLA for that ~ I *think* they put the plate on retention for you (you have to pay a fee) and they provide you with a new registration.
From there you just advertise the plate & hopefully sell it!
Hopefully if I am wrong someome can correct me, but you can contact the DVLA and ask them anyway :o)
elite, will offer you a very stupid price for your plate as they did for my 2 plates, just put it for sale on a few of the big sellers, new reg, elite, regtransfers, etc, get it put on retention,(105 to do that),when and if you sell, you will get the money back on top of the price for the plate.
you should get the plate on retention and then try and sell it on ebay were you could possibly get more for it than selling to these specialist companies also you could use their valuation as a reserve price and hopefully it will be met if not bettered in price than the specialist companies.
hi i have private plates which i have to transfer from car to car. firstly you have to apply to the dvla to etain the plates thi costs you 105.00, they then issue the car with a new reg which is what the car will be sold with. then the private reg is yours to either sell or tansfer onto another vehicle. try e.bay or privatly in the paper
