i received a speeding fine and replied denying the offence i then received a copy of the picture taken (which is clearly me) but i realised the camera is actually on the other side of the road which is probably why i didnt reduce my speed. 37 in a 30 by the way..
So my question is - is it right that a camera on the other side of the road can get you??
thanks

LOL normanthedog.
Actually i'll re-phrase my question.
Is it legal that the camera can get me?
of course it is,the law has changed now,it can get you both wats.
both ways
Is that why you are called splatt - because of the sound the pedestrians make when they hit your car.
You knew the speed limit - you were doing almost 1/4 as much on top of it. Stop bleating about which way the speed camera was facing, and accept that you broke the law and now you are going to be punished - and you deserve it too.
Is that why you are called tubeway? you don't drive but always take the tube.
So, what you're saying is 'the speed limit was only 30mph in one direction'? That wont get you very far when it goes to Court!!

And we let these people behind the wheel of a motor vehicle?
Question Author
How funny was that?? ROFL..
Question Author
ROFL to Toureman, that is...
You were caught by a Truvelo camera, they can be set up to work in either direction. The Gatso is the one that takes you from the rear, literally!!!
God you are so sad if you find that funny. Still the tube might be an option while there are idiots on the road who think that it is OK to drive at whatever speed they want and then slow down as soon as there is a speed camera around. Especially if they whine that the camera was the wrong way round to catch them out.
there but for the grace of god go i!
come on now, i'm sure if we are all honest we would have to admit to exceeding the speed limit at some time. in my opinion there are only two catorgories;

those that break the speed limit and
those who get caught breaking the speed limit

well said chevrolet, although im not sure tubeway will agree..
I assume Tubeway does not own a car. If he does hes a hypocrite, no one drives within the speed limit all the time
Tubeway does own a car
Tubeway spends a lot of time on the road
Tubeway occasionally drifts over the speed limit on motorways and dual carriageways
Tubeway used to have the same attitude to speeding - and then he grew up

I NEVER speed in towns - as I have seen what happens as a result of people speeding (I lost my best mate in 1971 aged 9 because a speeding driver lost control of his car and mounted the kerb). When my youngest son went through a similar experience it proved to me that it is not worth speeding - because taking a life is not worth getting there a few minutes early.

I have been driving for well over 20 years - have a clean license - and feel that if I can make one person think about their actions and slow down, it is worth it.

I am not a hypocrite rdv - just someone with the strong belief that speed limits are there in towns for a reason and that slowing down could save a life
i certainly wouldn't argue with your reasoning tubeway as i have had a friend killed by a hit and run driver, but you don't have to be speeding to injure or kill someone. there is always a reason for setting a certain speed limit on any road, and as by your own admittion, you have broken the limit on motorways on occasion. why then was it ok to do this, just because the road was designated a higher speed? like you said there is no excuse for breaking the speed limit but sometime we all do. as splatt knows, this time he was caught, but how many times has he got away with it? how many times have we all got away with it?
tubeway decides which speed limits he chooses to abide by, this is a rather superior attitude.
That is because I am superior to people who choose to speed in towns where there are pedestrians around (remember the original thread was somebody who was speeding in a 30mph limit.
While I may drift up to 75 (max) on the motorway - there is no danger of a pedestrian running out in front of me
Remember you called me a hypocrite when I have been honest about my feelings and actions right through this thread - I think that you should go back to your sad little life rather than being the condecending bore that you insist on being on this thread (my honest opinion based on your previous posts, and awaiting your sad whiney reply which I will ignore)
No need to be rude tubeway, you have admitted that you occasionally break the speed limit like everyone else, like you I also have a clean licence but these days with many speed cameras situated simply to produce revenue it often comes down to luck
