Wierd electrical fault.

Since the alternator went and it was replaced a wierd fault has occurred on my 1994 peugeot 306.
Every time you put the keys in or lock up the car the lights blink on and off for about a minute. Inside the car a tick tock can be heard like you was putting on the indicators.

Any ideas friends?

could be that when the alternator was changed a connector was knocked off by mistake sounds like the alarm or a short. I'd have a look see if there is a wire hanging loose near the alternator
