very funny - Ha Ha!!!
i'm taking 5 kids aged 12, 9, 4, 2 and 18 months to tenby for a week in the car. i think I'm exceptionally brave!!
we go on the m60, m56, m55 and then onto A roads.
i reckon I'll be off my head by the half way stage and if I don't stop off somewhere - up to my eyes in, sick, pee and quite possibly poo as well.
So - is there anywhere to stop for a break. the rac routeplanner doesn't say which is why I'm asking you guys.

You're looking at a 5 hour journey with the mid-point of your suggested route being in the area of Dolgellau if using the A489 or Newtown, Powys if using the A483.
An alternative route (M60 / M56 / M6 / M5 / M50 / A40 / A449 / M4 / A48 / A40 / A477) adds about 75 miles but only 10 or so minutes to the journey and keeps you close to many service areas... routemap

Harry Tuffin's Transport Caf is open 7 days a week. It's about half way between Oldham and Tenby and only involves a very small detour.
Come off the A483, after passing Welshpool, and turn left onto the A490. Follow this for about 8 miles, to Church Stoke. When you reach the A489, you're only 300 yards from the caf. (It's not clear from the website whether you turn left or right onto the A489 but it shouldn't be hard to find. You could always phone for directions):

To return to your route, simply the follow the A489 towards Newtown and then pick up the A 483 again. (The detour adds just 8 miles to your total journey).
