I have just bought a 2004 Ford Mondeo. The brakes were squeaking so I took it to garage. They put new discs and pads on the front and said it would be OK.
The brakes on the front near side are sticking worse now and the garage want to change the caliper.
Has anyone else suffered this problem and if so will new caliper fix it?
Cheers

the garage has seen you off once, new discs and pads will not cure a squeak but just putting a litte copaslip on the back of the pads would.

How do you know the caliper is sticking worse? were they sticking before you took it to the garage?

The discs had a lot of wear and had a lip on them. The garage said the pads were catching on the lip and that's why they changed them.
Now they say it must be the caliper sticking, which seems more likely to me, but I am afraid that I might spend another 120 quid and still have the problem.
If this doesn't cure it I will have to go to the Ford main dealer.

I had the new caliper fitted and after driving for 20 minutes it is squeaking again. OUCH.
That's twice they have seen you off, A small lip on the edge of the disc soon appears on all brake discs, this would not cause the brakes to squeal.

See my previous answer for cure.

You asked a question , you got an answer, confirmed by mdoo, we can't help anymore

I saw the pads and they have got tons of copperslip on the back of them.
What now????
Sorry Damon but you seem to have covered everything, is it only the new caliper sqeaking?

I don't mind the brake squeaking when I am braking. The problem is that as soon as the brakes get warm the front nearside disc squeaks all the time I am driving. It sounds like I am dragging a mouse around with me (haha).
Could it be possible that the car has been kerbed in the past, or had an accident, and the mounting bracket for the caliper is slightly bent?
Cheers for being patient with me.
