Can I tax my car without the log book as I've lost it?

You should get (or have got) a reminder from DVLA, and you do it on that.
Providing you have the reminder letter from dvla which should have a reference number you should be able to do it online. They will automatically check that the car is insured + MOT.
you can tax it at a DVLA office,providing you fill in a form for a new V5,AND PAY 25 QUID,ON TOP OF THE TAX PRICE.
