Away from home, I once called the AA out as my diesel Ford failed / was difficult to start. He said to change the 'warmer plugs' which I did. No difference
Drove home100 at top speed on M-way and went to a garge and asked. Mechanic sniffed the fuel and said, ''Petrol in there. How much did you put in?'.
'About 25%'.
'Fill it up with diesel and keep topping up regularly'
.
I did and, none of the dire consequences that are threatened happened.
My fault, but I also blame the AA as surely the very first question over a diesel not starting should be about the fuel.
A small amount of petrol left in the tank shouldn't do any harm as long as it is mixed with a fair amount of diesel. Mixing a small amount of petrol and diesel stops the diesel coagulating in severe cold weather conditions.Assuming you're going to be driving in the Arctic.
Hang your head in extreme shame.
tough
next time make sure you put the right stuff in
its not hard to put diesel or petrol into a vehicle.
be more attentive
