I woke up yesterday morning to the sound of a dull thud... (8:00 am) but thought no more about it until I went into my local chemist at lunch time to collect a prescription, came back out and saw - to my horror - a very large couple of dents on the passenger side of my lovely Fiat Bravo.... Now I now perfectly well that I was not in the car when those happened (I think I'd remember !) and it was only then that I recalled the noise at 8:00 am... doh ! The car drives ok, it just looks awful !

OK, my question is, what sort of place do I need to go to in order to get said *prangs* removed or pushed back into place.. I did try to use a 100mm dia dent puller but the prang was a bit too much for that device.. I just need to know what sort of place to get quotes from.... Thanks !

won't your insurance company deal with this?

Probably Sara... but I don't have the name of the *other party* to claim off and there is no way I'm going to lose my no claims bonus for a prang that wasn't my fault...- it's not a no blame bonus but a no claim bonus.... doh !

As you might have guessed by now, the lovely human being who pranged my car didn't even stop and leave any details... doh !!!!
some people are so nice and considerate aren't they!!!!

Do you have a dent devils located close to you

(though is it worth it for a fiat!!! LOL)
Its a shame the car wasn't written off completely. You could have then claimed on your insurance and got something of the same value to that Fiat...

like a kettle or maybe a toaster ;o)

Thanks Chuck... but it is not a *minor dent*.... which is why I am so angry... the trim is dented too, grrrrrr... Hey, this Fiat a is flipping brilliant car - way after the period of *fix it again tomorrow* - that's like saying a Skoda is a heap of metal... so not true these days.... This fiat goes like greased weasel sh!t and is a bit of bomber down the M4/M3 corridor lol.. super spec too... my late father in law would be distraught if he could see it now (I inherited it from him)... sob sob...

Anyway, I think I need more than a minor dent puller ... doh !

I just want to know what sort of place to search for to sort out the dents... body works maybe ?
Shame it's not in my area, I know of several good small independent body shops round here.

Try a local well regarded independent garage, they will either have a person on the book to do it or will be able to recommend a decent local body shop

P.S. LOL at Azonic's kettle or toaster comment :)
Hi Jugglering:

Sorry to hear about the damage to your car. The relevant section of Yellow Pages is 'Car Body Repairs'.

Chris
awhh, I had a Fiat Tipo a long while back and I loved it!

do you think your neighbours might have seen anything? the nosy old bag next door to me would never have missed it!
Fiat Tipo ?????

is that like a ford transit tipper?
NK, you're trying my patience!
Fix
It
Again
Tomorrow

:)
?
your not a nurse and i'm not a judge!
I am a nurse!
I did actually own a fiat (strada 125TC) which was a great car at the time, apart from I think it was the first ever car that was officially classed as being water soluble!!
If they are large dent or there is paint damage the likes of dent master an such like are unable to deal with.... forget your dealership body shops you are looking at double labour prices go to a couple of independants check the cost if too high go to your local car salvage an check the price of a second hand door.
Get in touch with the "Motor Insurance Bureau"

This is an organisation that pays out compensation if you or your car is damaged by an uninsured motorist and also if you cannot track the other driver
The MIB has a standard excess of 300 on claims for repair costs after an accident involving an uninsured driver, but where the driver is untraced/unidentified claims for repair will not be paid.

http://www.mib.org.uk/MIB/en/Submit+a+Claim/A+ Brief+Guide+-+Booklet.htm
Check that you haven't got a protected no claims bonus, that allows a claim without affecting the NCB.
it is worth finding a small bodyshop to get an estimate, most bodyshops are crying out for work at the moment, you may be surprised at the cost..
