question about No Claims Bonus

When my insurance policy expired in 2007 I wasn't given a year NCB as there was a potential claim pending. I therefore had to start a new policy with a different company with no NCB. I have earned 1 year NCB under this policy and, as no claim ever arose in the previous policy I should be eligible for a 1 year NCB from that too.

Will insurance companies now consider me to have 2 years NCB or just 1 year?

Thanks
