when dipping clutch to startengine nothing happens yet dipping brake pedal it starts

sounds like a loose wire, when you press the brake it moves the wire and makes the connection, probably in the low tension.

Hi, I think you will find that this a saftey incorparated feature on the Megane.

think some of the more modern cars have this, some hondas and alfa romeos and the like require you to dip the clutch or press the brake.
