my mate has bought a car this evening and i noticed the tax runs out end of feb 09 but is disabled and not standard tax disc, can she drive it or does she have to surrender it ?

It must be surrendered.

thanks for the info !
If your mate is caught driving it which is very unlikely as it will show up as taxed on the police database then he would be fined.

To drive it legally the registration document must be changed to a normal car and the tax payed.


Technically it needs to be exchanged but don't bother it'l show as taxed till the the end of Feb. Very unlikely anything will happen.
Unless the disabled person tries to register his new car in the disabled tax bracket
