My daughter collected her car from the body repairers on Friday after it was hit heavily on the rear panel and drivers door whilst parked. When driving it now it has a droning / rumbling sound that it didn't have pre accident but did have pre- repair. I have driven it myself and the noise stays when taken out of gear and coasting.I am wondering because it was quite a hard impact has it been slammed into the kerb and damaged a wheel bearing does this sound feasible. Its a 08 new model Corsa and was repaired at the insurance co repairers.
Hi, Take the car back explain you are not happy with the repair also explain about the rumble, it sounds to me as if the car is out of Alignment, Was it the N/S or OFF/S where the damage was made, Check your tyres for uneven wear, also you said that the car had been PRE repaired!!! was this stated to you when you bought the car? If not I would return the car to the garage that sold you the car in the first place & mention this in relation to the price you paid.
Thanks for your answer I don't think I perhaps made myself clear. I meant the noise was not there before the accident but was whilst driving it between the accident and before it went in for repair and the impact was on the offside whilst the car was parked at the kerbside. It was hit by another car that skidded on the icy road. Today I jacked up all four wheels individually and spun them could hear nothing wrong but was told by a mechanic friend you sometimes can't tell if there is not the weight of the car on it. Was told allignment had been checked at the bodyshop.
Has is Alloys? Metal wheels? get them checked, The Alloy for dents or a cracks in the alloy, Check the clearance from the tread of the tyre to the wheel arch each side & measure then compare.
