Do you mean the curved ones on the centre line? If so, they are known in the trade as "1041's" as this is their diagram number in the 'Specification for Highway Works'. They indicate that you should pull back to you side of the carriageway (ie don't overtake) as you are approaching a stretch of road with either a solid white line on your side or a ghost island (hatched areas used at junctions).
