Does anyone know if these checks will work for every reg the car has had? I'm looking at a car at the moment but it has a cherished plate, do I need to do separate check for every number it has had or will they automatically check all it's numbers? I used 83600, initially. Thanks

If it's on a cherished plate, it should list all the prevous plates the car has had, but the search wil lthem (in theory) go on the VIN.

However, there are occasionally issues when they have muddled up the plate changes - I have had nightmares i nthe past.

In short though, one search should be sufficient
All you need to do is check the VIN number within a Car checking site.Use one of the sites that has a insurance system.

We are involved in database for free access which is useful for a ideat of the history but does not guarantee the history .
