Can anyone tell me where the solenoid that actuates after the ignition key is turned on ? From memory way back I thought it just lay under the bonnet edge on the L/H side.Starter is not turning over and I want to manually push in the solenoid. Also think that radio keycode is lost after recharging battery. Thanks

I thought they were attached to the starter motor on minis (I assume you mean an old type mini)

I was hoping that this would not be the answer, but I think you are right. I was thinking that it would be the type that had a manual push so that I could start it that way, as a first check.
it was only the very early ones that had the button on the back of the solenoid to activate the starter!

shorting the contacts out with a blurdy great screwdriver will do the same thing
