Tail-gaters
Is anyone else experiencing an increase in this phenomenon? I travel on the A1 motorway every day to work and over the past 6 months or so I seem to be tailgated all the time, and even undertaken regularly. Drivers always seem to be in such a hurry now. Its not like I'm crawling along, but maybe my mistake is to stick to the speed limit.... The thing I've noticed recently is that there seems to be an increase in the number of female drivers doing it. Usually in their 4-wheel drives. Why does everyone have to be agressive on the road? Tip for all you tailgaters out there - it won't make me speed up, I'm more likely to slow down.

Probably doing them a favour as well..
If you are being undertaken however then you are in the wrong lane and that is irritating to other drivers and you are in the wrong there.Everyone should go back into the left hand lane.

I've found this works nine times out of ten. as soon as they tailgate I increase speed slightly to increase the gap and at the same time switch on lights. After a few more seconds switch on the rear fog light. This is very annoying and they soon get the message. As soon as they pull back to a reasonable distance I switch it off.
I drive in the slow lane unless I'm overtaking . Basic driving rules I believe... The undertaking I'm talking about is some impatient idiots have undertaken me to the point where they are up the a*se of the car I am currently overtaking, forcing it to speed up (which unfortunately they do), allowing the undertaker past me and forcing their way out in front of me. Frequently happens with motorbikes too.

And when I overtake I drive at 70mph which, unless they changed the rules without telling, is the national speed limit on that road. There are camera all along the A1 so I think its best not to go faster than that. Am I wrong??? If I can't overtake without going over then I don't, its as simple as that.
Know what -the police take a very dim view of pedants like you.I followed a car along with another 10 cars once which was doing just 30 in a 70 and the police appreared from no-where and overtook us all (not difficult lol) and pulled them over and they were ticketed-you can go too slow you know.It forces other drivers to make forced errors.
Its not just speeders who are at fault -its slow coaches as well and its little wonder that people get frustrated.
