Start frozen, car not starting

Hi
My car would not start this morning as it is so bloody cold, it was like the starter motor or starter solenoid was frozen, it started after about 5 minutes of trying and putting the fans on a bit but it's a bit of a pain. Has anyone got any ideas on how to solve this?

Hold the clutch down hard, the drag on cold thick oil can take a lot of your starting power.

it's semi automatic so no clutch

You may think this a silly Idea, depending which way the wind (If any ) is blowing park the opposite way.

I have parked it a different way this morning so the sun hits it first thing in the morning , first time it has happened so am hoping its not a regualr thing

What fans are you putting on, why?
Does the engine not turn over at all till 5 mins of trying have passed or do you mean it doesent fire untill then?

You're one of several ABers that have experienced this problem with their cars over this cold snap, I have been one of them too. It's just the cols weather flattening the battery as you try to start the car. I've found that since I had the battery hooked up to the charger overnight the problem has stopped. It's not as cold now either and so that has of course made a difference, one morning it was -11 here and the car sounded like it had drained all the power overnight.
