I have just bought a second hand N reg 1.6i Astra Sport  It has been running fine but in the last two days I have been getting a very intermittent fault light on the dash which not having a book I am unsure of the nature of the fault. The light has a picture of a engine with a electrical flash in the centre and is a yellow light. There doesnt appear to be any defirrence in performance with the car and the light comes on and off with no apparent cause,     Thanks

I've had this happen on various Vauxhalls... it's the engine management warning light. If it comes on and goes off quickly, then it's nothing to worry about, but if it stays lit for long periods, then you'll need to get it checked. When it's lit, the ECU goes into emergency mode and your car will be less efficient (higher fuel consumption and lower power).

Unfortunately it's not easy to diagnose the problem yourself... your Vauxhall dealer has a device they can connect to read the problem codes and check what the problem is.
