For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Has it got 16 valves? If it has then the chances are most likely. Was the engine running at above idle RPM when the belt snapped?
The only cheap way to see if it bent the valves is to fit a new belt and try and start the engine (ensuring it's timed correctly!). If it runs without misfiring then you might be lucky.... but very doubtful. Of all the engines I worked on I think I only came across one engine where it didn't bend the valves (OHC) and I think that broke at idle - pure luck.
