New Car - Insurance ????

I just purchased a new car and need to change the details over with my insurance company. The only thing is, they're closed till Monday.

Do i have any other option to cover myself on this particular vehicle until then. This may be a daft questions, but i only just got my license so not too good with these things. :-)

You have an insurance company that you can not contact out of hours? what happens if you need to make a claim?

I can make a claim, but just not change details over. It's shocking i know. The company is 'My Policy'
They belong to Aviva don't they?

most dealers offer 1 weeks free insurance for this very reason..
Beware!

He dealers that offer a week’s free insurance do so in order that they may tax the vehicle ready for collection. The cover provided is usually Third Party only.

If you have not been provided with this cover you should not drive the car unless your policy has a specific provision to cover these circumstances. The car will not appear on the Motor Insurers’ Database and if you are stopped the police may seize your new car. Even more important, if you have an accident you are unlikely to be covered.

Chris, there's another thread relating to this and we established that it's not Aviva.. it's just a little shop that's rarely open, lol!

(I hate it when there are two simultaneous threads).

If 'My Policy' is the name of a local broker the actual policy document should show who the insurance is really with.
