athena parking fine

received a fine from athena parking the other day as ioverstayed my parking on LIDL i have rang them to pay the fine,no joy just leave a message and phone no and they will get back.
tried to pay online and it says that my number plate and parking charge notice number did not match what they had on computer.
i rang dvla and they said that this is a legit company.
i want to pay the £45 fine,yes a bit steep i know (before it goes up to £90).
what has happened to data protection??????????

1) It's not a fine but an invoice

2) Are you saying they have the wrong registration number, if so they won't be able to trace you for payment

Did the invoice come in the post? If so they must have got your address from DVLA so they must have your reg number.
But I understood you don't have to pay these. Look on peppipoo or Martin Lewis site or Watchdog site

By tracing through the DVLA they will send the invoice to the registered keeper but it is up to them (Athena) to prove who was driving and as such liable for the payment

Ignore ignore ignore.

They will bombard you with letters threatening all sorts but its all a way of separating you with your hard earned cash. If they tell you they will take you to court - they wont. If they send you a letter from their solicitor its likely to be the chap on the next desk.

Never pay a private parking company a penny.

Course the DVLA will say they are a legitimate company as they are. The company is paying the £2 per registration to get you registered keepers address.

You could set yourself up as a parking solutions company. Approach some shops with private land car parking, errect a sign and 'invoice' everybody who over stays. Now watch the cash role in.
