how do I replace air bag (steering Wheel) on 1998 saxo

*Takes deep breath*  Don't unless you are qualified to do so!  You really need a Citroen garage, or qualified technician, to carry out the work.  The problem is that the Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) has special circuits built into the car.  This means you have a set procedure of disabling the air bag and on some cars even putting a special safety pin in the mechanism.  You probably don't realise that the airbag uses pyrotechnics to detonate and if you don't follow the correct procedure then it could go off causing injury or melting your dashboard - it would remain hot for about 45 minutes.  The airbag contains a capacitor that holds voltage charge, so even disconnecting the battery won't help.  The capacitor will need to be discharged as well and the disposal of the air bag has to be carried out by a registered garage (because of the explosives).

What is wrong with the air bag in your Saxo?  Or do you mean replacing the steering wheel and not the air bag?

have to agree, DO NOT ATTEMP THIS AT HOME, these airbags are explosive devices and can be triggered very easily, i have seen airbags go off because a mechanic was hamering on the suspension, once removed form the car they are even more dangerous as there is no way of telling where it will go if it does go off, trust me you do not want an airbag going off anywhere near you, even in an accident, they can cause temporary deafness, and even blind, the dust is choking and the force is incredible, I had a car in once the side airbag had gone off by accident and it actually shattered the door window and buckled the door frame, again, please do not try it yourself get a garage to change it, it shouldn't cost much, as it is not a really a big job, but they will kow how to remove it and refit it safely
