My 1995 Nissan Micra has very clunky gears (1st and 2nd) when cold. Why and is there anything I can do about it? thanks

Is it definitely in the gearbox rather than the gear lever?

If it's in the gearbox it might be a problem with the baulk (sp?) ring/synchromesh.  Other than taking the gearbox apart.... expensive job!
