My ripspeed car stereo wont turn on, i have checked all the wiring which seems fine, i have tried it in all stages of ignition but still no luck, the lights behind the drop down panel turn on, there is one button behind there to eject the disc which lights up and a small line underneath the disc slot which also lights up. when i turn the ignition on, the unit makes a buzzing sound which sounds like the noise it makes when you eject the disc. but it wont do anything else, no lights on the front panel or anything. I have looked in instruction manual for troubleshooting but nothing has worked. please help.

Can't help with the radio benny, sorry. Have you taken your test yet?
I'd say the front has failed .. or connections need cleaning (if it is a removeable or drop-down face)
Question Author
yes it is removable and micmak my test is a week monday. :-)

how would i go about cleaning the contacts, just a rub with my fingers or...?
A little piece of scotchbrite scourer .. brown if you have it ..
Fine wet or dry paper.
Fine brass brush
Suede shoe brush
GF's (or the girl you met last nite's) flexible nail file

No pastry brushes!

just tried a few different things with it, i put a cd in and shut the panel and it turned on and started playing, i took the cd out, shut it again and it went on to radio and just continuously scrolled through frequency's. nothing i pressed stopped it. i cant even turn it off, volume dial works, forwards button makes cd skip backwards instead. no other buttons work, ive had the panel apart and there are no signs of damp, what could be the problem?
If you have the front panel apart .. lay the parts on a radiator or in a warm place for the day to evaporate any dampness.
If there is a flexible keypad inside, carefully remove and wash/dry it in the warm.
Then try again.

okay thanks. will try that now. :-)
