Had my car MOT'd yesterday and just noticed on the advisory notice accompany the MOT certificate that the garage has noted 'Sills and under car covered'. Does anyone know what this means please as I'm not very knowledgeable about these things and don't want to sound like an idiot when I ring up the garage. Thanks in advance...

On the likes of the BMW E36, below the doors you will see a fancy plastic outer sill, it is screwed to the inner METAL SILL, that's the sill they cannot see, so the garage is making the point & in-turn clearing him / herself of a non inspection of the metal sill that could be corroded, same applies to the under engine plastic cover.

Corroded! : )

It needs wirebrushing somewhere and repainting/waxing. Whatever the original is like.

Thanks for the advice AlBags. I'll ask them for a quote to get it fixed.
sure it don't refer to plastic undertrays etc like some cars have fitted & they dont want to remove them for inspection, didn't say what car either did you - doh

See what you mean ..
I'll ask my MOT friend what he thinks of adding that to an advisory.
Not on really.
that was my thought plastic sill covers many modern vehicles have these, not in the MOT testers remit to start removing bits...
To add, if it becomes apparent that the outer plastic sill + below engine protectors has to be removed for complete inspection, there is only one person that is going to pay!! Time involved could mean anything from an hour to sky's the limit.

Thanks all for your replies. I rang the garage and it turns out that TWR was spot on - they're just covering themselves because they haven't been able to inspect.
