Driving somenoe elses vehicle.. in their name.

Hi, I was driving my friends vehicle and had all of his details (address etc etc). I was stopped the other day claiming that i have no insurance, which my friend did have (as far as i know) - I was given a producer to produce, licence (both parts), insurance & MOT. As he's not in the country, i'll have to produce the documents, but i'd like to know how i'd get around this..

Anyone have any advice??

of course the car has insurance, has it ever come to your minds that police might have a system where they can falsly show that the car doesn't have insruance? The car has been stopped before and checks had been done showing that the car has got insurance, and no it wasn't running out while he was away. i'll sort this sh*t out and let you guys know what happens.

dilligaf, sadly loads of them do. I'm pretty certain that most of these muppets got their licences out of xmas crackers.

Working for a fraud unit for a large insurer, I have personally kicked out 69 (69th today as a matter of fact) claims for cars that have allegedly been stolen, but the evidence suggests a drink/drive scenario, or they've let a friend drive the car.

It gives me no greater pleasure than to write a statement for the police for thier pending prosecution

Hiya guys,

Just a little update on the situation. I got out of it, so did the owner of the vehicle. Simply produced the papers bit later, and told them that he had gone on holiday (which he did) and they didn't mention anything else.

Anybody stupid enough to get themselves in this situation, is clever enough to get themselves out of it!
