transporting propane cylinders

Hi...can anyone tell me whether it is legal to transport propane
cylinders on a vehicle over 3.5 tonnes and do you require
a tailift to avoid lifting them..the biggest cylinder size is 47kg in weight

See 'other vehicles'. BTW, the gas inside has a mass of 47kg...the cylinders weigh more than that!!
I can't see any reason why it would be illegal provided they were correctly loaded and constrained.

You wouldn't neccesarilly need a tail lift but you couldn't ask someone to load or unload them by hand. For example having them in a fram and lifting them off with a forklift would be acceptable.
I think it depends on whether it is a business or private individual doing the transporting and the quantity likely to be on the road at any one time.
If memory serves me right Royzart, you have to be licensed, regards the weight, if you want big B@LLS carry on, depending on what size a bottles are. as you know, Propane is Flammable Liquid.
