No, it's not My Cherie Amour, but thanks for trying; What's even more frustrating is that this morning I heard it on a Channel 4 program on music rhythm presented by a Howard Goodall - Stevie Wonder featured near the end and this tune was being played in the background for a minute or so but I couldn't make out the words !

Thanks to everyone for your replies, and ... problem solved ! I remembered that in the Ch 4 programme the SW album mentioned was "Innervisions". I had a listen on Napster to all the tracks and it turned out to be He's Mistra Know It All. Cheers !
